Princess Teagan's Birth Story

The Birth Story of
Teagan Daniel Medcalf

       Once upon a day like any other day a third Princess was born into the Medcalf family! Mom's due date had come and gone as the family awaited the arrival of their precious little girl.  After a false alarm Thursday evening we were sure she would probably hold out until the snow storm over the weekend hit, but on Friday, February 20th, 2015 at 12:48 pm mom's water broke and it was time for the action to start.

Shortly after Mom was checked into labor and delivery at Lake Granbury Medical Center.  She was admitted to room 125, which was also the room that her oldest daughter was born in.  She made the necessary phone calls for family and let them know that Teagan was on her way.  Dad arrived shortly after, as well as her close friend, both to be by Mom's side as they welcomed baby Teagan into the world.

        At 3:46 pm they checked her progress and she was dilated to a 4, contractions were starting to get stronger.  Mom was asked again if she would like an epidural and she held strong to her natural birth plan. Family came in and out during this time to offer support and so did her oldest daughter.  She wanted to be there when her baby sister was born, but as things progressed later in the day, the family kindly gave mom space to labor in peace.  Her usual doctor was already off for the day but an associate was there to step in and Mom was thankfully very comfortable with her.

Her labor progressed rather quickly for the most part, it may not have felt like it in the moment but by 4:47 pm she was dilated to a 6/7, then at 5:51 pm she was at an 8.  She was managing her pain very well.

 She was hitting the point of no return and didn't even hint at wanting anything for pain management.  By 6:22 pm she was moving into a 9, but it was very apparent that Teagan wasn't exactly in position yet, so Mom's pain was intensified as they had her move around in many different ways to get Teagan into birthing position.

It's almost time...

                                         Teagan Daniel was born at 6:49 pm

{you may notice the time on the clock doesn't match her birth time,
we are assuming they go by a different clock to get birth time}
